4.- A Villeira: Grapes

Mencia, garnacha tintorera, brancellao, sousón and merenzao.

3.- A Villeira: Climate

The orientation is east at an altitude of 700 metres.

2.- A Villeira: Soil

The richness of the area is given by soils composed of decomposed granite, poor and shallow. The orography of the area only allows the land to be worked by hand or with animals.

6.- A villeira: As Ermitas. The sanctuary

The sanctuary was built in the 17th century in honour of the image of the Virgin discovered by shepherds in the 13th century in a cave in the area. It is said that the cattle that passed through the cave where the sanctuary is located today were cured for no apparent reason. One day they decided to explore the cave where they found the figure of the Virgin and Child in her arms. It is considered one of the first Marian sanctuaries in Galicia, along with that of Muxía. Since then, the Virgin has a great devotion in Ourense due to the fame of "milagreira" that she maintains.

A fresh wine with little intervention. We understand it as the faithful expression of a historic vineyard in poor, granitic soil in As Emitas on the western edge of Valedeorras. 1.- A Villeira: Location

This small plot of land, 0.40 ha, which we call A Villeira, planted in 1958 on old granite stone terraces, is located in the municipality of As Ermitas near Valbuxán, the northernmost area of Valdeorras where the river Bibei separates it from our neighbouring Ribeira Sacra.
