Every year, the exhibition attracts professionals from across the industry and offers the opportunity to find out about the latest trends and developments in the furniture industry. The interzum award is granted every two years to innovative products and concepts in the furniture and supplier industry. This year's interzum award, which is being held for the twelfth time, focuses in particular on the area of "sustainability". In line with the meta-theme "New Ecology" of the world's leading trade fair interzum, companies were able to submit their innovations to the category "Neo Ecology" of the interzum award 2023 for the first time. The entries were judged on the basis of the Sustainable Development Goals - in particular Goals 12 and 13 - which were developed by the UN as guidelines for sustainable development. With its focus on the topics of "Sustainability" and "New Ecology the interzum award 2023 is an event that not only recognises innovative products and concepts, but also to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability in the furniture and supplier industry. In the twelfth year of the interzum award, the jury of experts examined a total of 144 products from 18 countries. In the end, 52 products were awarded prizes, seven of which received the highest "Best of the Best" award for outstanding achievements setting new standards in their sector. Lightness and low use of raw materials are combined here to create environmentally friendly furniture solutions. The frameless concept gives great freedom in furniture design and industrial implementation. For the problem of connecting such panels together, as well as for the fastening of fittings, especially in the lower thickness range 15-22mm with thin outer panels, the industry continues to provide elaborate, cost-intensive solutions that are unsuitable for ubiquitous use. Building on the patented Peanut® technology developed by Intelligent Fixings for "plain" wood materials like chipboard, MDF, or solid wood, the newly patented PEANUT CORE technology is the expected step to complete the puzzle. The patented "soft wood" is already dressing the first shoes, accessories and furniture and has also gained a foothold in the automotive industry. NUO is made of high-quality veneer that comes exclusively from sustainable forestry. The thin real wood is bonded to a textile backing suitable for the application - there are three backing options to choose from here: microfiber, cotton or fleece. The wood surface is then lasered. The fine engraving gives NUO its flexibility. If required, the material can be covered with a protective layer of varnish. The backing material provides strength and ensures that NUO is easy to process. There is a choice of four different engravings, which differ in their grid size from 1.7 mm to max. 4 mm.
